Anaerobic exercise does not depend on a person’s oxygen intake but more on what is stored in their muscles. This type of exercise will help to build up muscle mass and overall strength.
The size of a person’s muscles does not determine the amount of weight they can push. Just because the bodybuilder in the gym has physically larger muscles, the powerlifter half their size can potentially have the ability to bench and squat just as much. This is because hypertrophy increases muscle size but does not necessarily focus on strength unless the athlete includes this in their training.
However, strength training is not based upon isolation but is built upon the foundation of stabilization. Stabilization training targets type I muscle fibers that are important for postural control and long-term contractions. This will help with any stiffness or slouching that can happen while riding.
